The history of Darda Castle
"Esterházy CastleThe Esterházy Castle is located in the municipality of Darda , near Osijek .
The first owners of the Darda estate were Janos and Friedrich Veterans, who acquired their possessions at the time of King Charles VI. Queen Marija Teresa donates Darda to the Esterházy family in 1749, and they remain owners of the whole century.
The exact construction time of the castle is unknown, but it is assumed that it was erected at the turn of the 18th to the 19th century during Francis Esterházy. The literature mentions Ivan Kazimir Esterházy as a possible builder of the castle in 1813 ."
The Esterhazy Castle is located in the municipality of Darda, just out side Osijek. Much can be said to the estate of the castle as it was as it stands in need of repair. Over the years it has been used for various festivals and events. It is slowly gaining recognition as becoming a tourist destination hotspot.
Past events in Darda Castle
Tarda Festival has been become an annual event for the past three years. In a town called Darda was the place to be at the Esterhazy castle. It was full of excitement bringing together rich cultural history from the past history of life for the three days. Reconnecting history through cultural activities, fine clothing of the era, food, and music and dancing. The theme draws upon the early 16th century and at the dawn of the 18th century.

Darda turns the Castle into a Christmas at in the courtyard of Esterhazy castle was the full of cheer and Great Spirit. . Turning back time to a down-to-earth festivities for the whole community and visitors to enjoy. There was plenty of things to do and see at the castle. There was a wide range of music from live bands, folk music, local music groups, and the DJ adding the upbeat tempo. If you came hungry there was plenty of great food to enjoy from the local area. With just a few weeks to Christmas was the perfect opportunity to join in the craft workshops to make something to cherish as memories of the advent. Even with a bit of chill from being in the open area but that did not stop the local people and guest visiting the castle for Advent over the 3 day weekend.
